Brainstorming

Changing the Future

Research, in the International Journal of Neuroscience, has successfully tested the phenomenon of field consciousness.

Field consciousness links all individuals.

It has been demonstrated that individuals participating in different forms of Transcendental Meditation (TM), a form of mantra meditation, when there were coherence changes in a specific range "5.7-8.5 Hz band", it consistently lead to coherence changes in individuals not participating in mantra meditation into the range "4.7-42.7 Hz band".

Those performing the mantra meditation were in brainwave states ranging from Theta to Alpha.

Theta has a range of "3.5 to 7.5 Hz".

Alpha has a range of "7.5 and 13 Hz".

Those not performing the mantra meditation, were then consistently led into coherence changes ranging from Theta, to Alpha, all the way to Beta.

Beta has a range of "14 and greater Hz".

Essentially those performing the mantra meditation for periods of fifteen to twenty minutes, led individuals who were not to either enter the same brainwave state, or higher into the Beta range.

I propose that since we know that the mantra meditation is within the Alpha and Theta range, that we can imitate the field consciousness effects demonstrated by it, by developing a new form of meditation specifically designed to do so.

It is stated that the Alpha state can be entered easily by "closing the eyes and relaxing".

The theta state however is shown to be somewhat abnormal in awake adults, but is common during sleep.

Therefore the period between being awake and being asleep, hypnagogia, would be the perfect time to perform the meditation.

This is because during this time, a person could close their eyes and relax, entering the Alpha state, and by doing so, slowly shift into the Theta state.

During the shift between Alpha and Theta, interfacing with Field Consciousness should be a rather simple task.

The mantra meditation itself, must be relaxing, because if the practitioner becomes too alert or anxious, they will enter the beta state.

The principle of TM meditation, is that the mind is always moving in the direction of greater happiness, the mind is allowed to follow its path to greater happiness, while repeating a mantra.

The mantra then continually becomes shorter, focusing on the main intention behind the mantra, until it is left with silence.

I myself have never practiced TM, but based on a speech given by its creator, about the principles of TM, I imagine this is what it would be like.

Achieve inner-happiness
Achieve inner-happiness
Achieve inner-happiness
Inner-Happiness
Inner-Happiness
Inner-Happiness
Happiness
Happiness
Happiness
and then silent relaxation....

The purpose of the mantra in mantra meditation, is more than likely to induce a more relaxed state in the individual meditating.

The meditation practice I am envisioning would be incredibly simple.

One would simply lie down, close their eyes, relax their body, hold the intention of spreading peace, letting go of said intention, and then continuing to relax either all the way to sleep, or borderline sleep.

Another possible option would be to combine the holding onto, and letting go of intention, with the practice of Yoga Nidra, which has been shown to increase Alpha levels in practitioners.

Like TM, I want to craft a meditation practice that is able to allow individuals to effect the coherence changes of others, through the Field of Consciousness, but to do so with an intention.

I want there to be a specific, accurate method, for intentionally interacting with Field Consciousness, that is simple and easy to do.
